What is a routine?
A routine is a set of daily tasks to people take action on their goals. A routine should be something that is done regularly, as it is just an extension of a normal habit. We're not building courses, we're stripping down learning and making it a daily habit.
- Routines attach action to content. Creators can push out a lot of content, and people are consuming it. The issue is that followers are left without a clear path to actual integrate the content into their own lives. They have the inspiration but no way to make it their reality. Routines makes that happen.
- Routines was born because we know what it's like to use a personal optimization app: it's hard. And as the data shows, it often doesn't last more than 2 days. We're making that easier with inspiration and social accountability.
- People are inspired by people, not apps. That's what social media has capitalized on, but habit platforms have failed to realized.
- Poor habits are built by doing for the sake of doing (without motivation of end goal or understanding of root behavior). Poor learning is done by learning for the sake of learning. We're not about checking off quick fixes. We're building habits by learning.
Frameworks for picking routine topics
-
Is it something people want to reflect about?
- Good Example: Justice in July (live in the app — check it out!)
- Poor example: WFH Kit (live in the app — check it out!)
-
Is it something people WANT to do with others?
- Best: "Journal with partner every day, with X creator"
-
Is it natural for the content to change every day?
-
Is there a growth plan fo this?
- [ ] Who is the user we are targeting? Do we have a growth strategy to support that routine/user?
